Text
Protection of the European Convention on Human Rights
That this Assembly values the rights enshrined within the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and its protections for citizens on this, the 75th anniversary of its creation; acknowledges that legal expressions of the Good Friday Agreement incorporate the ECHR into law; opposes attempts by the British Government to make it harder for citizens to take cases based on violations of human rights; calls on all parties to recommit themselves to the protection of the ECHR and to oppose any attempt by any British Government to leave the ECHR, thereby undermining the Good Friday Agreement and human rights protections.
