Mr Eóin Tennyson: Assembly records
All of Mr Eóin Tennyson’s imported questions, contributions and motions in this mandate, newest first, including those assessed as not flagged, uncertain or not yet analysed.
To ask the Minister for the Economy how his Department can encourage local companies to keep their production lines in Northern Ireland rather than offshoring production.
I thank the Minister for that answer. He will be aware that there have been numerous reports into SEN provision in Northern Ireland over the past decade. What assurance can he give that the recommendations that arise from the end-to-end review will be implemented and will not simply sit on a shelf as others have done?…
Every party in the Chamber has called for a plan to tackle the issues in Lough Neagh; indeed, that call appeared in the DUP's Westminster manifesto, which was launched yesterday. What is your assessment of who is responsible for blocking progress on the Lough Neagh action plan?
I thank the Minister for that answer. Will that legislation include provision to expand basic rights on day 1 of employment, such as the right to parental leave?
Further to the benefits that the junior Minister has just outlined, what work is being done in the Executive Office to protect and insulate good relations funding from cuts in this financial year and the next, given the difficult budgetary position?
I thank the Member for giving way. He talks about the democratic deficit, as he sees it, but surely he recognises that a majority of people in Northern Ireland voted for parties that want those special arrangements and that there is therefore democratic support for the current arrangement.
The UK's decision to leave the European Union in 2016 was an enormous act of economic self-harm. Its destabilising impacts have been most acutely felt here in Northern Ireland, with borders and barriers being placed back at the centre of our politics. It has left in its wake a litany of unkept promises and unfulfilled…
Environmental Improvement Plan That this Assembly agrees the importance of urgently adopting an Environmental Improvement Plan, as Northern Ireland's first Environment Strategy, to complement the implementation of a comprehensive, overarching and cross-departmental approach to tackle the water quality issues at Lough…
I welcome the debate insofar as it raises an important issue and challenge for the agriculture sector, but the motion falls short from a number of perspectives. First, and perhaps most obviously, as referenced by Patsy McGlone, it is critical of a decision that was taken by officials in 2023 in the absence of a…
Motion Amendment · Private Members' Motion · to “Promoting On Farm Investment”
Promoting On Farm Investment - Amendment 1 Leave out all after the first ‘Northern Ireland’ and insert: ‘notes that the Office of Environmental Protection commenced an investigation into Ammonia Standing Advice on 23 May 2023 and subsequently issued a judicial review pre-action letter to the Department of Agriculture,…
Does the deputy First Minister agree that tackling the cost of division in our society and our services should be a priority for all Ministers as part of a programme for public service transformation, not least to ensure more efficient and effective outcomes, and also as a means of integration and reconciliation in…
Thank you, Minister, for your answers and the statement. On the independent organisational review, are there any significant recommendations other than those relating to headcount and regrading of which the Assembly should be aware?
The Alliance Party's vision is for a more shared, equal, tolerant and united community, where diversity is celebrated and where everyone's rights are protected and respected. We are committed, therefore, to taking steps to ensure that people in Northern Ireland are protected from harm based on who they are or whom…
I thank the Member for giving way. He mentioned that many of the most heinous acts of conversion practice are already illegal under existing law. Surely he acknowledges, given the evidence that we have available to us, that some forms of it are falling through the cracks.
I thank the Minister for that answer. Is she confident that her Department has allocated sufficient resources for the work? Will building the evidence include the establishment of an independent commission to advise her?
I thank the Minister for that. The Minister will be aware that the Committee for Education and the Committee for the Economy held a concurrent meeting last week. At that meeting, Education officials said that there were currently no plans to publish the action plan for the framework for 14- to 19-year-olds' education.…
Mr Tennyson asked the Minister whether, further to the framework on developing a more strategic approach to education and training for 14- to 19-year-olds, he will update the Assembly on when the agreed success measures for the 14-19 landscape will be published.
To ask the Minister of Education whether capital funding will be made available to Portadown Integrated Primary School, subject to planning permission being granted.
It is an understatement that this is an extremely challenging Budget, set in the most turbulent of circumstances. The fact that we are only now in a position to have this debate, two months into the financial year, is testament enough to that. Like so many of our Budget processes, this one has been upended by delay…
Motion Amendment · Private Members' Motion · to “Conversion Practices”
Conversion Practices - Amendment 2 Leave out all after ‘Dr Danielle Mackle;’ and insert: ‘endorses its recommendations including enabling victims of conversion practices to access support easily, increasing public awareness of the damaging effects of conversion practices, and ensuring training is available to the…
