Text
As the Member may know, we have been working on a planning improvement programme for the past year or so. We have seen good results so far. It will take time for that programme to be properly felt on the ground, but we have seen early indications that, in recent months, our major projects have met their targets for the first time, which is a clear indication that the concerted, ongoing work with councils is having an impact. I recognise that issues around statutory consultees remain a challenge. We implemented the statutory consultee forum in an effort to address that challenge and to work with all consultees to understand the issues regarding delays and how we can work to solve or address them. We are seeing improvements, and I continue to get feedback about those improvements. I will be happy to provide the Member with further information, but please be assured that we have been looking at this for some time, because I want to see significant improvements in the planning system.
