Text

We had a very effective public consultation. We heard that lots of things are good and right in the strategy, and there was overwhelming support from the public. Some of the interest and lobby groups had concerns. We take all that on board, and it was a genuine consultation process. As a result, I have tasked the permanent secretary to work with other officials in my Department to make sure that we bring forward everything that needs to be in the strategy, including all the things that we currently do. There is a little bit of a mismatch, in that much more is being done by all Departments to tackle poverty. We will bring that back, and, as I said at the Committee, I hope to have the next version by early September.
