Text

Like all MLAs who have spoken, my thoughts are with Katie's family, especially her parents, as they listen to the Minister's statement. Minister, BBC Northern Ireland's 'Spotlight' episode on the Katie Simpson murder reported that someone from a political party contacted the journalist Tanya Fowles to tell her, "Nothing to see here" and that Katie's murder was a suicide. Did the review consider that issue? Was Dr Melia in contact with the journalist or with the BBC to attempt to establish which party was involved?

Assessment

Not flagged

Jev’s structured answers met the documented threshold for “not flagged”.

  • Overall probability that the activity is being used to promote, exploit or escalate an identity-based controversy: 0.24 (flagging needs at least 0.70; at or below 0.30 is not flagged).
  • None of the five culture-war criteria was met (each was below 0.60).
  • The text reports, quotes or asks about the framing rather than adopting it (0.51).
  • The overall probability was at or below the not-flagging threshold.

This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.
