Text
A recent response from Minister Nesbitt to a question for written answer raises serious questions about how basic patient data is being recorded across our Health and Social Care system. The Department admits that there is no consistent approach. Some systems record biological sex and others record self-identified gender. That is not a minor administrative issue; it goes to the heart of effective medical care. Biological reality is not an abstract concept. It is central to diagnosis, treatment, risk assessment and screening for many medical conditions. Any system that fails to record reality accurately creates challenges in medicine and lays bare the fact that the Health Department has been captured by an ideology. I welcome the fact that it is being reviewed. It is deeply concerning that that method of gathering data was ever permitted to be developed to begin with. Who authorised the introduction of self-identified gender fields in the systems and on what basis? Were external organisations consulted in shaping that approach? The model that currently exists has all the hallmarks of something influenced by Stonewall ideology if not written by the organisation itself. The public are entitled to know how decisions of that nature were taken. That is why I have asked for a list of any LGBTQ+ groups that have engaged with the Department of Health on the issue. I have asked whether it is the Minister's policy that biological sex will be recorded as a mandatory field across all Health and Social Care systems. It should not be a controversial proposition. It is a basic requirement for a functioning health service. It is an indictment of the Health Department that it is so captured by wokery that I have to ask such basic questions. Our health system needs to reflect reality and not dangerous ideology.

Gender, sexuality, abortion and related social issues
Jev’s structured answers met every documented threshold for flagging as culture-war activity.
- Overall probability that the activity is being used to promote, exploit or escalate an identity-based controversy: 0.85 (flagging needs at least 0.70; at or below 0.30 is not flagged).
- Criteria met: Sectarian or communal antagonism (0.81); Dog-whistle messaging (0.97); Controversy escalation (0.66).
- The text adopts the identity-based framing in its own voice (0.99).
- Subject area: Gender, sexuality, abortion and related social issues.
- The text adopts an antagonistic or dog-whistle framing, which is flagged even alongside legitimate scrutiny.
What a flag means. A flag means the activity contains at least one instance of culture-war framing that met the published test. It does not mean the whole activity is divisive, or that its substantive arguments are wrong.
This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.

A second, larger AI model can read this record again, without being told the MLA’s name or party, against the same published rubric. It also asks whether the activity mainly serves the public interest or mainly advances division. Its verdict replaces the current one, whichever way it goes, and its reasons are published here. Each record can have one second assessment.
If you still think the record or its classification is wrong after that, or the record itself has a factual error, you can challenge it. A person reads every challenge, and any change is recorded publicly above with its reason.
