Text
I will not be as long-winded on the amendment as the leader of the Opposition was. We will support the amendment, because it is important to have transparency in the operation of government and the operation of democracy. Of course, there is a cost to not implementing the Bill and there is a cost to implementing it. It would be great if the Minister could outline those costs to us. That would be useful. I will make a couple of remarks on the amendment and the "waste of money" comment. It is important that, when we debate amendments like this, we do not use throwaway lines. I do not believe that the Bill was ever a waste of money, but I do believe that, when finances are tight, priorities matter.
