Text

One of the benefits of going with you on the visit to Belleek was in my being aware that there are specific challenges not simply in rural healthcare delivery but in rural border healthcare delivery. That is a particular challenge, given that we cannot compete with Sláintecare on wages and salaries. It is attractive for healthcare professionals working somewhere such as Belleek to look over the border, and that is perfectly understandable. It is important for me to get out and about. On Mondays and Tuesdays, I am either here or at the Department doing meetings or paperwork. That is all essential work, but it is not real. It is only when I visit somewhere like that GP surgery in Belleek that it becomes real, and I get a better sense of what I need to do.
