Text
it would be tempting to say that we can never do enough. However, once again, we are moving in the right direction. I am very much in favour of body-worn cameras, and there is evidence that they are a successful and appropriate deterrent. My focus, Mr McNulty, is on changing the law. At the moment, it prohibits the employers — the trusts — from taking action to prosecute somebody who has been physically or verbally violent towards a member of their staff. We are actively looking at what we might do by way of a legislative change to empower the trusts to do more to ensure prosecutions rather than leave staff feeling that they are on their own and have to get a solicitor to do their own prosecution.
