Text
On a point of order, Mr Speaker. I wish to raise a point of order under Standing Order 65, which deals with good order in this place. I have not hidden the fact that I have a hearing impairment, and, today, I was not able to hear most of what the Minister was saying because of the shouting coming from the Back Benches. Between Mr Gaston, Mr Brett and others, including Mr McNulty, it made it impossible. If that type of discrimination is going to continue in the Chamber, it prevents people with hearing impairments from taking part in the democratic process. I would like a ruling from you about the noise that is created in the Chamber that stops Members hearing a Minister. Whether I agree with him or not, he deserves to have his place and be heard in this place.
