Text

I thank the Member for giving way. I acknowledge the point that she makes about the manner in which we are debating what are sensitive subjects today. The Member talks about hate crime. The good thing about the aggravation piece is that it will be established in a court of law whether the offence was perpetrated by hate and then aggravated. It is important to acknowledge that, sometimes, the victim may deem it to be a hate crime but it may not necessarily be one if there are multiple victims of all races.
