Text
As I read out, the repayment schedule for the reserve claim is £80 million in 2026-27, £160 million in 2027-28 and the same in 2028-29. The allocations for the spring forecast are £227 million in 2026-27, £5·6 million in 2027-28 and £144·9 million in 2028-29. The only year when there is credit, for want of a better term, to the Executive is 2026-27. While all additional funding is welcome, it largely balances off the reserve claim, and we will certainly engage with the British Government on that. It is clear that the Barnett consequentials in the spring forecast funding came about as a result of the historical underfunding and pressures faced by councils in England in SEN provision, and we are facing similar pressures here. As I said in the Chamber previously, that blows out of the water the myth of financial mismanagement. It reflects the reality of the pressures that we are facing in relation to SEN and in relation to healthcare.
