Text
I have been asked that question many times, and the people who ask it often do not know what they mean. There is not even agreement within the GAA about what Casement Park should look like. There is not even agreement within the GAA as to whether Casement Park should go ahead. We have had calls from many who have said that the money should be divided up between the counties. There is no clear understanding of what it means when people say, "Should Casement Park be built?" I am not going to dictate what any stadium should look like; that is a matter for others. I have two roles to play in this. The first is to provide the funding that has already been pledged, and the second, importantly — people often forget about it in this debate — is to make sure that any proposed project provides value for money. That is a requirement for my Department, so we need to make sure that whatever proposals come forward meet that value-for-money requirement.
