Text
This is a deeply worrying time, and our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of people from here who are in the region. The deputy First Minister and I and our officials are fully engaged with the British and Irish Governments on the matter. We met the Prime Minister and the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs last week to discuss the ongoing impact of the conflict in the Middle East on our diaspora who are living there and travelling through there. We reinforced the fact that we stand ready to assist in helping people from here who are impacted on in the region in any way that we can. We receive twice-daily briefings from our officials on the situation, and we have been working actively to use all the communication channels available to us to encourage people affected to register their presence through the relevant government portals and to keep up to date with the official travel guidance, as it continues to change.
