Text

I thank the Member for taking an intervention. Far be it from me to say that the British Government have ever done anything positive, but, during Brexit, they said that the one group among all the farmers that they would support was those farming in uplands and areas of natural constraint. They said that there were automatic benefits to the environment from protecting those farmers. Nothing else positive came from the British Government, however, and we certainly never saw any benefits for those farmers. It was, however, a commitment that the British Government gave, yet they did not stick to it, and I think that the DUP may have had a little bit to do with that.
