Text

I appreciate the Member's taking an intervention. Does he agree that, like every other Department, the Department of Justice has a responsibility to ensure that it saves money where it can? For almost seven years, I have been raising with the Minister the need to address ill-health retirement and injury-on-duty issues and to change legislation in order to save millions of pounds in her Department. That is money that is being paid to police officers who should not be getting it, so it is being lost to her Department. The Minister needs to take responsibility and bring forward legislation that will save her millions of pounds.
