Text

Work on inclusion and the need for access to cash is being carried out by the Treasury. I do not support the idea of a cashless society. The Member has pointed out a number of examples of where, when things go wrong, they can go dramatically wrong. It is important that cash remains part of our services, and that people can use it in shops and for whatever other services that they use. As I said to Mr Dunne, I will continue to engage with the Treasury on the matter. It is vital that the Treasury and others fully understand the needs and uniqueness of this place, hence why I am pushing for proper representation on the committee.
