Text
At the moment, the focus is on the open-book process. As I said, I would like to see that formally start in the next 24 hours or so. That will allow the Treasury to achieve a better understanding of the pressures that Executive Departments face in delivering public services, all of which are experiencing growing demand. The local growth fund, the PSNI data breach and other areas, such as VAT, are some of a wide range of areas on which we are engaging with the Treasury. All of that will form part of the discussions, but there will be a very tight focus on the open-book process in the next couple weeks. I want that to be completed, so that we can sit down at a political level and have serious discussions about how the Executive are funded to deliver public services. In my opinion, it is clear that we have been underfunded for many years, and I think that that view is shared around the Executive table. We need to use our collective political resources to ensure that we are properly funded moving forward.
