Text
The state of Belfast lough continues to concern me. The fundamental issue is about dealing with the sewage pollution that is occurring. I will bring a paper to my Executive colleagues on stronger regulation and enforcement relating to that sewage pollution. There is also a role to be played, and we need to have a mature conversation about the investment that is required not only for Kinnegar waste water treatment plant, which is in our constituency, but more broadly for Belfast lough and beyond in Northern Ireland. We must take action to address the pollution; otherwise, we face a very bleak future for Belfast lough.
