Text

I do not want to see anybody's being abused. There are realities of our past and the many tragedies and injustices that happened here, but we all have a duty, particularly those of us who are elected, to be responsible in our public utterances and about what we hear and see around us. I certainly will not be found wanting in that regard. I think that we have all experienced quite a rise in online abuse, and in the disgraceful and disgusting commentary that is directed towards anyone who steps forward for public office. That is not tolerable for anybody in society, including those who have chosen to step forward for public office or to take up a public role.

  • No identity-based framing was identified (0.55).
  • The overall probability was at or below the not-flagging threshold.

This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.
