Text
I thank the First Minister for her response. Extreme heat, as a direct consequence of climate change, is predicted to result in 100 deaths a year in Northern Ireland. Flooding and heavy rainfall can have devastating consequences for farmers, families, businesses and coastal communities. With Northern Ireland producing more CO2 per year per person than China, does the First Minister share the view of the deputy First Minister who recently told the Executive Office Committee that a local climate change commissioner would not add any value?
