Text
As the Member will know, we will allocate it to the different divisions, which will then make decisions based on prioritisation. I have been engaging closely with officials. I know that there are roads that, potentially, would not receive the same priority if you were looking just at the traffic volume on them. However, there are roads that are in a really bad state and have deteriorated rapidly, and I have asked that, where possible, those are prioritised. We also have to be mindful of what capacity is available not just internally in the Department but for external contractors. I have asked officials to explore the area thoroughly with our staff and the external contractors to ensure that there is a fair spread across the North.
