Text

As the Member will know, I announced a start date for graduated driver licensing. We are preparing for its introduction on 1 October, and preparations continue at pace. The subordinate legislation necessary to support its introduction will be sent this week to the Infrastructure Committee for scrutiny, and the Department will soon launch a bespoke media campaign that will focus on the key messages of GDL, including the key risk factors that GDL aims to address. In addition, the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) will engage directly with relevant stakeholders. It will engage with driving instructors and others on the specific practicalities of the GDL scheme in advance of its introduction on 1 October.
