Text

I welcome the opportunity to speak on the matter. It is telling that, in all the contributions made by the Members opposite, they have not once focused on the key issue of proportionality. Mr Gaston and I disagree and argue regularly. We have different views and robust exchanges. However, I defend his right to do that, because his party has a mandate to do it. What we propose today is a two-day suspension for a Member over language that another Member found unacceptable. I hear Members say that Mr Gaston's apology is worthless. I would be interested to hear, had he not apologised, what further sanctions those people would have liked to impose on him.

Assessment

Not flagged

Jev’s structured answers met the documented threshold for “not flagged”.

  • Overall probability that the activity is being used to promote, exploit or escalate an identity-based controversy: 0.11 (flagging needs at least 0.70; at or below 0.30 is not flagged).
  • None of the five culture-war criteria was met (each was below 0.60).
  • No identity-based framing was identified (0.99).
  • The overall probability was at or below the not-flagging threshold.

This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.
