Text
I welcome any efforts to improve road safety. There are, however, important questions around accountability. It seems that, at the moment, we hear from the Minister only via the airwaves, as we did this morning. There is a fundamental lack of accountability to the House. Our roads hit crisis point, and there is no accountability. There is flooding chaos but no accountability. There is little or no action to tackle our waste water crisis, and there is no accountability. We now have the most fundamental changes to licensing in 70 years, and the Minister has had to be called to the Assembly by the Speaker. Minister, what way is that to treat the Assembly and the public, with such an historic change being pushed through without any meaningful engagement with the Chamber? How can you claim that the rationale and evidence base will have the desired outcomes in improving road safety?
