Text

I thank the Members who contributed to the debate. I welcome Gareth Wilson to the Chamber and look forward to working with him on the AERA Committee. To summarise, the Waste (Fees and Charges) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025 will bring into operation the waste management charging scheme for 2025-26. That is required in order for the NIEA to charge for its regulatory activities in relation to waste management. The scheme includes an annual uplift to the fees and charges, which allows the NIEA to operate under full cost recovery, as is required by the principles of 'Managing Public Money Northern Ireland'. I commend the statutory rule to the House.
