Text
The draft Budget that I have put forward provides almost £26 billion in resource DEL funding for the Department of Health over the three-year Budget period. Excluding earmarked amounts, that would mean the Health budget receiving over 52% of available resource DEL funding each year. Given the priority placed on waiting lists in the Programme for Government, I am also proposing to extend the £165 million funding package made available in the 2025-26 budget for a further three years. That would see almost half a billion pounds dedicated to cutting waiting lists. The funding ring-fenced for waiting lists in 2025-26 is already delivering results, as evidenced by the reduction in waiting times. Of course, there is still more to do.
