Text
There is a plan, as part of the legislation that we will introduce, for a judge to be able to put stalking protection orders in place either at the point of conviction or on acquittal, where the judge believes that the person, not having been convicted, still represents a risk to the complainant. They can be useful, but we need to look at how they are applied. One reason why, as with things such as domestic abuse protection notices and orders, we want to get the arrangements for them right is so that they do not offer any false sense of security to victims, who may rely on them for their safety.
