Text
It sounds good, Minister, that we will have an intelligent system, but that implies that some of the current engineers are not intelligent. That said, I can think of one example in my constituency about which I have asked officials for a meeting a number of times, but they say that they are working on the basis of defects and actionable defects. In most constituencies, the actionable defects are so bad that, after staff have marked the defects, by the time that they come round to fix them, the defect markings are part of the potholes. The problem there is either management in Roads Service or the management of contractors. When, Minister, will your Department get a grasp and manage the contracts appropriately so that the roads do not get into the state that they are in?
