Text
I speak to today's motion with a deep sense of empathy for every family across the North who has faced the fear, the uncertainty and the anguish that a cancer diagnosis brings. I am thinking, in particular, of one family who just got bad news yesterday. Behind every statistic in the debate is a person who is waiting for news, family and friends who are pacing corridors and communities that are holding their breath, and it is for them that the Assembly must act with urgency and unity. The motion outlines what we already know to be true: our waiting times are unacceptable and are costing lives.
