Text

A just transition is absolutely key. It is embedded in the legislation and in my Department. We have a just transition fund for agriculture. We secured that as part of the budget for this year. We are bidding for additional funding for next year and the years beyond, because it is important that we give that support to agriculture. In addition, I am looking to set up a just transition commission for Northern Ireland. I am seeking Executive approval so that we can make those regulations and appoint people to a commission. It is important that we have a commission and the funding in place. It is a commitment not only for me but for my Department and, hopefully, the Executive.
