Text
I also express solidarity with the Minister. Parts of Derry city centre at times now resemble the Wild West, with groups of vulnerable individuals drinking and engaging in antisocial behaviour. It is not only putting them at risk; it is impacting negatively on locals, tourists and the local economy. Police have lamented the lack of legislation that would permit them to confiscate alcohol from adults and believe that that would be a game changer in tackling the issue. Will the Minister update us on the work that she and her Department are doing with others to close that legislative loophole?
