Text
The Supreme Court ruling on 16 April was that the definition of "man", "woman" and "sex" referred to biological sex in the context of the Equality Act 2010. Obviously, there are considerations as to what that means for individual Departments here. The Equality Commission has set out the view that it needs legal clarification from the courts. We have to await that clarification, whether you like it or not. As in all these things, let us understand the complexity of the issue, and let us also understand that we need to be sensitive.
