Text
The benefits of a multi-year Budget are as follows. I would prefer it if there were more money in the Budget, I have to say, but being able to plan on a three-year basis allows a wide range of our public services to ensure that they are able to look at transformation differently, because they know their budget over the next number of years, and at how, where and why they deliver services. It allows them a longer-term planning process. I also want to work pay etc into a three-year Budget so that our workers — the important people who deliver the public services — are aware of their pay scales over the remaining years of the Budget, but that has to happen in discussion with the unions.
