Text
I share the frustration that the Member has highlighted. A setting in my constituency — the former Ravarnette Primary School site — is one of the 10 schools that are listed for disposal in the 2026-27 year. It has taken many years to get to the point at which it will be available for disposal. In the meantime, it has become an eyesore in the community. That is replicated in many other areas across Northern Ireland. The process for identifying an educational purpose or another public-sector purpose needs to be improved, and, following that, you need to be able to move to disposal and allow the private market to acquire those sites so that they can be used for another purpose.
