Text

The scheme is applicable to every sector. The amount of funding that is being allocated to the curriculum-led capital investment programme is limited. It is in the region of £10 million. There are other capital works planned, including for major new builds, school enhancement programmes and minor works, all of which continue to face significant demands, with a lack of resource to meet the need that I want to see met. The curriculum-led capital investment programme is designed to place a specific focus on that element of the curriculum. It will be available to all schools to make an application. One of the Irish-medium schools that I was able to take forward was Scoil an Droichid in south Belfast. It was one of the seven schools that I announced for a new build in order to meet its particular needs. I will continue to apply that approach in future.
