Text

I say yes to the Member. I said that I would intervene on a number of levels. Peter McBride going in to look at the culture and behaviours and where they are wrong is number 1. Number 2 will involve putting in someone external who has expertise in what I call "clinical teamwork", which is a direct reference to the cardiac surgery unit. My permanent secretary, Mike Farrar, is on top of that. One of the great advantages of having somebody steeped in healthcare delivery across the UK is that he knows names, so I have left him to liaise on that. There is a third intervention that I am working on but am not in a position to reveal. However, I assure you that the House and the Committee will be the first to know.
