Text

I thank the Minister for his interesting statement. Access to GPs is an issue that is raised with me daily, particularly by rural patients, who have to travel further. He will know that, in the south-west area, we have a had a collapse of services, and I am concerned that the statement will push further collapse. My question is on the increased technology that the Minister mentioned. He mentioned pre-bookable slots to ensure that patients are dealt with when they walk into practices. How will that be effectively monitored by his Department in an independent way? Has he seen any improvement to that over time, as money was provided by the previous Minister, Minister Swann, in the previous mandate? We do not know where exactly that money went to improve telephone services.
