Text

One might fear that the Member is trying to curry favour with the Speaker with that comment. In general, yes, it is crucial that more young people come forward into public life to shape the bodies and how we design policy. Again, the best example that I have of that is the role that young people played in the ending violence against women and girls strategy. However, if we are to design policies and strategies that will deliver on the needs of the public, that process needs to be inclusive, so, on the general point, yes, absolutely, having more young people, more people from an ethnic minority background and more people who reflect the society that we live in will always lead to better policy and decision-making.
