Text
On a point of order, Mr Speaker. Will you illuminate the House on how Mr Aiken's comments align with Standing Orders, particularly Standing Order 24A(6)(d) on Members' statements? Will you also remind him that to claim that people are antisemitic just because they support the rights of Palestinians is a disgraceful slur against the name of anybody who stands up for Palestinians and does a disservice to the many Jewish people in America and across the world who stand up for Palestine?

Against the published rubric
The text is a point of order asking the Speaker whether another member's remarks complied with the Standing Orders on members' statements. It rejects the claim that supporting Palestinian rights makes people antisemitic, calling it a "disgraceful slur". It does not map the Gaza conflict onto communities in Northern Ireland or portray any people, faith or nationality in a hostile way, and it acknowledges "the many Jewish people" who support Palestine. Under the rubric, rebutting what the speaker sees as an unfair accusation, and taking a side on a foreign conflict without hostility to a group, does not count as culture-war activity.
Public interest or divisiveness
The intervention is mainly a defence of people who support Palestinians against being labelled antisemitic, framed as a procedural complaint. It does carry a point-scoring edge against another member and keeps a heated exchange going. However, it does not attack a community or deepen division along identity lines here, and it explicitly avoids conflating Jewish people with one side.
