Text

My thoughts are with those who were caught up in the incident at the victory parade in Liverpool last night, which included a large number of Northern Ireland-based Liverpool fans. I turned on the news channels to see and enjoy the parade, only to be confronted by the breaking news of the unfolding situation. It was saddening, to say the least. What was supposed to be an evening of celebration quickly turned into one of horror. It was particularly shocking not only for the four children who were involved but for all those who bore witness to it. No football fan, or, indeed, any sports fan, should go somewhere to show support for their team and return injured. I hope that the people — the fans — who were involved have a speedy recovery.
