Text
When the Northern Ireland Audit Office looks at any organisation, it is important that we take time to learn the lessons from its report. I thank the Comptroller and Auditor General and her staff for the report. The Northern Ireland Policing Board is, as you say, responsible for securing the maintenance of an efficient and effective police service, including, for example, how it acquires and maintains its fleet and where that expenditure is made. My officials will study the report closely and discuss, as appropriate, its findings with the board and the PSNI at the tripartite meetings that we hold. It is, however, possible that that Northern Ireland Audit Office report will be the subject of a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearing. For that reason, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at this time on its findings.
