Text
I have addressed that issue before in the Assembly, including earlier in Question Time. We can have a circular conversation about academic selection. For over 20 years, that conversation has been taking place with no consensus being achieved. Academic selection has its supporters, and there are those who do not support it. I can engage in that debate and give my view, but the situation will not change. However, we can change every school, irrespective of the sector from which it comes, through the support that we will provide to every school leader and every teacher. The core of TransformED is about providing support for teacher professional learning. Every child will get the best possible opportunity in the classroom. I am determined to make sure that we have a world-class education system.
