Text

I thank the Member for his question. I have asked my officials to consider the implications of the ruling across the education system in order to ensure that the Department, all its arm's-length bodies (ALBs) and schools are in compliance with the legal definition of "sex" and balance the rights of all pupils. It is an important issue, on which the UK Supreme Court has made a ruling. It is important that I follow the law, that all Departments follow the law and that all those in the education system follow the law.
