Text
The deputy First Minister has her personal view on the record. I undertook to bring this forward, in one sense because it is a legal duty, but it is also a moral duty, folks. It is a moral duty: we have to do it. I am absolutely determined to work with others to ensure that that is the case. I thank Members for their contributions throughout the debate. Establishing the body will take a bit of time. We have a bit of a road to go to refine everything, to make sure that we have it up and running and to see how it works and interacts with all the other bodies. We have to do this. We have to protect the world for future generations. Someone mentioned going to school assemblies or talking to young kids: this is about their future. This is about the world that they live in, what it looks like and how it feels for them. We should all commit to working together and acknowledge that climate change is, in fact, a reality, that we are living in those times and that we must do something about it.
