Text
Thank you, Mr Deputy Speaker. I thank Members for their contributions to the debate. On balance, the provisions of the Bill that engage the LCM should extend to Northern Ireland. Agreeing to the LCM will allow important provisions to be enacted across the UK. I am grateful for the support that we have had across the Chamber and from the Committees. One issue, in particular, has been raised again: that of Northern Ireland's employment legislation being added to the list of relevant legislation. Just to be clear in response to Kellie Armstrong's comment, changes that include Northern Ireland devolved legislation will require the consent of the relevant Northern Ireland Department or Departments. It is not a matter for the House or the Executive; the consent is given by the Minister, and that consent is given by way of communication between the Secretary of State and the relevant Minister. I am grateful for the widespread support that we have in the Chamber and commend the motion to the House.
