Text
The point that Mr McGrath makes is one that I have heard repeatedly from a number of the community groups that I engage with. It is also one that I can speak to from my constituency point of view, where I see how the voluntary and community sector do excellent work on youth services. That is why I am very keen to make sure that they are enabled to do their work and that, where they can do that work, there should not be the need for statutory provision because the voluntary and community sector can do it. There will always be a role for statutory provision — absolutely — but the review is working through all the various aspects that I just outlined. Once we get to that place where there is a policy, that will be subject to a public consultation process, which will give a further opportunity for community and voluntary groups to have an input into shaping the policy.
