Text

Following on from the Minister's comments that LPS will work with ratepayers, I have a case at the minute where the time frame given to the constituent to pay off their rates bill simply is not long enough for them to afford to pay it off. Will the Minister give a commitment that, where there are circumstances in which financial pressures dictate that people cannot make the payment within four years, six years or eight years, LPS will grant a longer period to pay off debt? It is more important to get the rate payment than to take ratepayers to court, only for them to default because they cannot make the rate payment.
