Text
Yes. I hope to see that happen in the fairly near future. I will keep members of the Committee for Infrastructure updated. As I have said, road safety is a huge priority for me, because we are witnessing the highest number of deaths on our roads, many of whom, sadly, now are pedestrians. It is therefore incumbent on us all to do what we can to reduce the numbers to as low as possible, and ideally to zero. We do not want to see anybody lose their life on our roads. For me, the scheme is very important, as it is about protecting our children as they go to and from school and about protecting people who live in residential areas. I am considering the issue very seriously, but I want to ensure that we get the maximum benefit from whatever I announce next. I am therefore considering the issue at the minute, but I hope to be able to announce something fairly soon.
