Text

I appreciate the Minister's giving way. He is generous and always up for a debate. He and I agree that there should not be a border on this island. I do not think that there should be a border in democratic culture. He will agree that there is a very robust Opposition in Dáil Éireann. In fact, they are fighting for more rights there. Does he agree that an Opposition to challenge Ministers is an inherent, core part of any democracy and that if it is good enough for the Irish people on one side of the border, it should be good enough for the Irish people up here too?

This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.
